Problem

Let kk be a real parameter and consider the points A(k,0,2)A(k,0,2), B(0,k,2)B(0,k,2) and C(0,0,k)C(0,0,k) in space. (i) Show that AC=BCAC=BC for all real values of kk, and hence identify the class of triangle ABCABC for arbitrary kk.},{ (ii) Determine the value(s) of kk (if any) for which △ABC\triangle ABC is equilateral. (iii) Investigate whether △ABC\triangle ABC can ever be degenerate for any real kk, and justify your answer.
