Problem

A large storage tank with a uniform horizontal surface area of 1.8 m21.8\,\text{m}^{2} contains oil of density 850 kg / m3850\,\text{kg}\, /\,\text{m}^{3}. Two identical small holes, each of area 1.2×10−4 m21.2\times10^{-4}\,\text{m}^{2}, are opened simultaneously at the bottom of the tank when the oil depth is 1.2 m1.2\,\text{m}. Determine the time required for the oil depth to decrease to 0.80 m0.80\,\text{m}. Ignore viscosity and assume the oil surface remains level and open to the atmosphere throughout.
