Problem

A decorative hand-fan is made by cutting a circular sheet of radius 20 cm20\,\text{cm} into 6 congruent sectors and joining them along their straight edges. Wastage of paper during cutting is 10\%. Take π=3.14\pi=3.14. (a) Part 1: (i) Find the area of paper used in one sector. (b) Part 2: (ii) The curved (outer) edge of each sector is to be hemmed with ribbon. Calculate the total length of ribbon required to hem the curved edges of 1000 such sectors. (c) Part 3: (iii) Determine the total area of paper that must be provided to manufacture 500 complete fans, including the 10\% cutting wastage.
