Problem

Consider the parametric equations x=t3−3t2,y=t2−2t,−2≤t≤3.x=t^{3}-3t^{2}, \qquad y=t^{2}-2t,\qquad -2\le t\le3. Let II be the set of xx-values satisfying −1≤x≤1-1\le x\le1. (a) Determine the corresponding set of tt-values that map into II. Present your answer as one or more intervals. (b) On each tt-interval found in part (a), evaluate the sign of d2ydx2\dfrac{d^2y}{dx^2}. Show analytical work supporting each sign determination. (c) State the xx-intervals over which the curve is concave up and the xx-intervals over which it is concave down, restricted to II. Justify your conclusions.
