Problem

A train travels due east at 25 m/s relative to the ground. A passenger inside the train throws a baseball straight forward at 10 m/s relative to the train. Three observers watch the ball: I. The passenger sitting next to the thrower. II. A person standing on the station platform. III. A jogger running due east at 5 m/s relative to the ground. Rank the magnitude of the ball’s velocity as measured by observers I, II, and III from greatest to least. Give your answer in the form I > II > III, etc.
