Problem

A brass sphere of mass 0.50 kg0.50\,\text{kg} at 150 ∘C150\,^{\circ}\text{C} is gently placed in thermal contact with a copper sphere of mass 0.30 kg0.30\,\text{kg} at 30 ∘C30\,^{\circ}\text{C} inside a perfectly insulated enclosure. The specific heat capacities of brass and copper are 0.38 kJ kg−1 K−10.38\,\text{kJ}\,\text{kg}^{-1}\,\text{K}^{-1} and 0.39 kJ kg−1 K−10.39\,\text{kJ}\,\text{kg}^{-1}\,\text{K}^{-1} respectively. (i) Calculate the final common temperature attained by the two spheres. (ii) If a third body initially at that common temperature is now placed in contact with either sphere within the same enclosure, will any heat flow occur? Justify your answer.
