Problem

A solid ice-cream is made by mounting a hemispherical scoop on a right circular cone so that their circular faces coincide exactly. The radius of both the hemisphere and the cone is 3.5 cm and the vertical height of the cone is 12 cm. (i) Find the total outer surface area of the ice-cream that can be coated, leaving out the common circular face at the junction. (ii) Calculate the volume of the entire ice-cream. (iii) How many such ice-creams can be prepared from 2 litres of ice-cream mixture? (Take π=22 ⁣/7\pi = 22 \!/7.)
