Problem

Consider the three fundamental trigonometric functions y=sin⁡xy=\sin x, y=cos⁡xy=\cos x and y=tan⁡xy=\tan x. Answer the following questions related to their graphical properties: (i) State the domain and range of each of the three functions. (ii) Write the principal period of each function. (iii) Explain, with reference to the unit circle, why the period of tan⁡x\tan x is π\pi and not 2π2\pi like sin⁡x\sin x and cos⁡x\cos x. (iv) Describe how the graph of y=cos⁡xy=\cos x can be obtained from the graph of y=sin⁡xy=\sin x without changing its shape.
