Assertion : [Ti(H2O)6]4+[\text{Ti}(\text{H}_2\text{O})_6]^{4+} is coloured while [Sc(H2O)6]3+[\text{Sc}(\text{H}_2\text{O})_6]^{3+} is colourless. Reason : d−dd-d transition is not possible in [Sc(H2O)6]3+[\text{Sc}(\text{H}_2\text{O})_6]^{3+} .
