Problem

A curve is defined by the parametric equations x=tetx=te^{t} and y=ln⁡t+t2y=\ln t+t^{2}, where t>0t>0. (i) Find dxdt\dfrac{dx}{dt} and dydt\dfrac{dy}{dt}. (ii) Hence obtain a simplified expression for dydx\dfrac{dy}{dx} in terms of tt. (iii) Evaluate dydx\dfrac{dy}{dx} at t=1t=1. (iv) Using the value from part (iii), state whether the curve is rising or falling with respect to xx at the point corresponding to t=1t=1. Justify your answer briefly.
