Problem
A resistor of 50Ω, an inductor of 200mH and a capacitor of 20μF are connected in series to a 220V (rms), 50Hz a.c. mains supply.
(a) Calculate the inductive reactance at the supply frequency.
(b) Calculate the capacitive reactance at the same frequency.
(c) Determine the impedance of the series circuit.
(d) Find the rms value of the current flowing in the circuit.
(e) Calculate the phase angle between the source voltage and the current and state whether the current leads or lags the voltage.
