Problem

Two students stand 1.5 m1.5\,\text{m} apart, each holding a medicine ball of mass 2.0 kg2.0\,\text{kg} at chest height. (i) Write the symbolic expression for the gravitational force of attraction between the two balls, taking the universal gravitational constant as GG. (ii) Calculate the magnitude of this force. (iii) The students step closer so that the separation between the ball centres becomes 0.50 m0.50\,\text{m}. Calculate the new force and determine the ratio of the new force to the original force.
