Problem

A giant wheel in an amusement park has seats attached at a distance of 8 m8\,\text{m} from its centre. The wheel completes one full revolution every 20 s20\,\text{s}. During a test run the wheel is operated for 60 s60\,\text{s}. Use this information to answer the questions below. (i) State the relation between speed (v)(v), radius (r)(r) and period (T)(T) for an object in circular motion. (ii) Calculate the speed of a seat on the wheel during one revolution. (iii) Using your result from part (ii), prepare a speed–time table at 20 s20\,\text{s} intervals up to 60 s60\,\text{s}, and sketch the corresponding speed–time graph. (iv) From the graph, comment on whether the motion of a seat on the wheel is uniformly circular and justify your answer.
