Problem

Two lines kk and ll are intersected by a transversal dd at points PP and QQ respectively. The two angles marked at PP and QQ are situated as alternate interior angles. Their measures are given by ∠APQ=(3x+18)∘\angle APQ = (3x + 18)^{\circ} and ∠BQP=(5x−42)∘\angle BQP = (5x - 42)^{\circ}. (Note: AA and BB are points on lines kk and ll respectively, chosen so that ∠APQ\angle APQ and ∠BQP\angle BQP lie between the two lines.) (a) If k∥lk \parallel l, find the value of xx. (b) Without assuming that the lines are parallel, determine whether kk is parallel to ll. Give a complete proof based on your result from part (a). (c) Once the relationship between kk and ll is established, find the measure of all the angles at points PP and QQ. Show each step clearly.
