Problem

A car starts from rest and its velocity changes as follows: • From t=0t = 0 to t=6 st = 6\,\text{s}, the velocity increases uniformly to 24 m/s24\,\text{m/s}. • From t=6 st = 6\,\text{s} to t=10 st = 10\,\text{s}, the velocity remains constant. • From t=10 st = 10\,\text{s} to t=14 st = 14\,\text{s}, the velocity decreases uniformly to 8 m/s8\,\text{m/s}. Solve the following: (a) Plot a velocity–time graph for the entire 14 s14\,\text{s} duration using a proper scale. (b) Calculate the acceleration during each of the three time intervals. (c) Find the total displacement of the car in the 14 s14\,\text{s}. (d) Determine the average acceleration of the car over the whole journey.
