Problem

A particle moves in a straight line with constant acceleration aa. Its displacements from the origin at times t1t_1, t2t_2, and t3t_3 are s1s_1, s2s_2, and s3s_3, respectively. If the times are in AP with common difference dd and the displacements are in GP, prove that a=(s1−s3)2d2a=\frac{(\sqrt{s_1}-\sqrt{s_3})^2}{d^2}.
