Problem

A designer is constructing a series RLC circuit to work with a 24 Vrms24\,\text{V}_{\mathrm{rms}} source. The circuit must resonate precisely at 5.0 kHz5.0\,\text{kHz} while using a fixed capacitor of 100 nF100\,\text{nF}. (i) Calculate the inductance required so that the circuit resonates at 5.0 kHz5.0\,\text{kHz} with the given capacitor. (ii) If the rms current at resonance must not exceed 0.12 A0.12\,\text{A}, determine the minimum series resistance needed. (iii) The resistor must also keep the power dissipated in it at resonance below 1.5 W1.5\,\text{W}. Taking this additional condition into account, find the final resistance value that should be used in the design.
