Problem

A cable consists of four identical copper wires, each 5.0 m long with a radius of 0.50 mm, connected in parallel between two terminals. The resistivity of copper at the operating temperature is 1.7×10−8 Ω m1.7\times10^{-8}\,\Omega\,\text{m}. The cable is uniformly stretched so that each wire doubles in length while its volume remains constant. Calculate the new equivalent resistance of the cable after stretching.
