Problem

A spinner divided into four equal coloured sectors—red, blue, yellow and green—was spun 120 times. The number of times the pointer landed on each colour is recorded below: Red: 42 times Blue: 30 times Yellow: 18 times Green: 30 times Use this data to answer the following. (i) Calculate the empirical probability of landing on each colour. Write each answer both as a fraction and as a decimal correct to two decimal places. (ii) Rank the four colours from most likely to least likely outcome. State clearly if any colours are equally likely. (iii) If the spinner is spun 60 more times under the same conditions, how many times would you expect the pointer to land on yellow? Give your answer to the nearest whole number.
