Problem

Two spherical metal balls, A of mass 0.5 kg0.5\,\text{kg} and B of mass 5 kg5\,\text{kg}, are held side by side at the edge of a 30 m30\,\text{m} high terrace and released together. Neglect air resistance throughout and take g=10 m/s2g = 10\,\text{m/s}^2. Answer the following: (a) Define the term "free fall". (b) State whether the mass of a body affects the value of acceleration due to gravity. Give a brief reason for your answer. (c) Calculate (i) the time taken by each ball to reach the ground, and (ii) the common velocity with which they strike the ground.
