Problem

A cyclist is observed at two instants of time while moving along a straight road. He is 5 m5\,\text{m} from a lamp-post at t=2 st=2\,\text{s} and 45 m45\,\text{m} from the same lamp-post at t=10 st=10\,\text{s}. Use this information to answer the following. (i) Plot the two points on a position–time coordinate system and join them with a straight line. (ii) Calculate the speed of the cyclist during this interval. (iii) If the cyclist continues to ride with the same speed, find his distance from the lamp-post at t=16 st=16\,\text{s}.
