Problem

A rectangular circuit consists of a 12 V12\,\text{V} battery, resistors R1R_1 and R2R_2, and a single-pole double-throw (SPDT) switch that can connect the battery in either orientation without opening the loop. With the switch in position A, the battery’s positive terminal is connected to the top wire, and conventional current is clockwise. The switch is moved to position B, instantly reversing the battery polarity while keeping the circuit closed. For the moment immediately after the switch reaches position B, state (a) whether conventional current flows through R1R_1, and if so, in which direction, and (b) whether any current flows through R2R_2. Give a brief justification.
