Problem

A series RLC circuit has resistance R=40 ΩR = 40\,\Omega, inductance L=0.20 HL = 0.20\,\text{H} and capacitance C=50 μFC = 50\,\mu\text{F}. It is connected to an adjustable sinusoidal source of amplitude Vrms=220 VV_{\text{rms}} = 220\,\text{V}. (i) Calculate the natural (resonant) frequency f0f_{0} of the circuit. (ii) When the source frequency is set equal to f0f_{0}, determine the amplitude of the rms current in the circuit. (iii) If the source frequency is increased to 1.30 f01.30\,f_{0}, calculate the magnitude of impedance and the phase angle between source voltage and current at this frequency.
