Problem

A small stone of negligible size is tied to a light, inextensible string of length 0.50 m0.50\,\text{m} and whirled in a horizontal circle at constant speed. The stone completes 120120 revolutions every minute. (i) Calculate its angular speed in rad s−1\text{rad s}^{-1}. (ii) Determine the magnitude of the centripetal acceleration of the stone. (iii) Find the linear speed of the stone and, using this value, compute the centripetal acceleration once again. Show that the result agrees with your answer in part (ii).
