Problem

A capacitor of capacitance 40 μF40\,\mu\text{F} is connected across a 200 V200\,\text{V} (rms), 50 Hz50\,\text{Hz} alternating voltage supply. (i) Calculate the capacitive reactance offered by the capacitor. (ii) Determine the rms value of the current drawn from the source. (iii) Find the average power consumed in the circuit and state whether the circuit draws any real power from the supply.
