Problem

Points A(0,0)A(0,0) and B(4,3)B(4,3) are fixed. A variable point P(x,y)P(x,y) moves in the plane such that the area of triangle ABPABP is zero. (i) Derive the relation between xx and yy that the coordinates of PP must satisfy. (ii) Hence write the equation of the line through AA and BB. (iii) Verify that the point Q(8,6)Q(8,6) satisfies the relation obtained in part (i) and interpret this result geometrically.
