Problem

(Inverse determination of force from work) A gardener pushes a lawn-mower along a straight 10 m10\,\text{m} path on level ground. The handle of the mower makes a 45∘45^{\circ} angle with the horizontal. (a) If the work done on the mower is 1.50 kJ1.50\,\text{kJ}, calculate the magnitude of the force exerted by the gardener. (b) Keeping the same force found in part (a), the gardener later tilts the handle so that it makes a 60∘60^{\circ} angle with the horizontal and again moves the mower through 10 m10\,\text{m}. Determine the work done in this second case.
