Problem

Two students pull a wooden crate along a smooth horizontal floor through a distance of 5 m5\,\text{m}. Student A exerts a horizontal force of 50 N50\,\text{N} and Student B exerts a horizontal force of 70 N70\,\text{N}, both in the same direction as the displacement. (i) Calculate the work done by each student separately. (ii) Calculate the total work done on the crate by the two students together. (iii) In obtaining the answer to part (ii), did you have to use vector addition of forces or algebraic addition of individual work values? Give a reason for your choice.
