Problem

A rectangular coil ABCD has AB = 8 cm and BC = 6 cm. It carries a current of 5 A flowing from A → B → C → D → A. The coil lies in the yzyz-plane and is placed in a uniform magnetic field of 0.30 T directed along the +x+x-axis. (i) Find the magnitude and direction of the force on each side of the coil. (ii) Show that the vector sum of the four forces is zero. (iii) About which axis will the coil tend to rotate?
