Problem

Consider the quadrilateral WXYZWXYZ whose vertices are W(−6,1)W(-6,1), X(−2,1)X(-2,1), Y(−2,−4)Y(-2,-4) and Z(−6,−4)Z(-6,-4). (i) Draw the quadrilateral WXYZWXYZ on a graph sheet by plotting the given points. (ii) Using only horizontal and vertical distances on the graph, calculate the lengths of all four sides. (iii) Hence find the perimeter of the quadrilateral. (iv) Does the figure cross or touch any coordinate axis? Give a brief justification.
