Problem
A rectangular loop of wire lies flat in the plane of the page. The loop carries a counter-clockwise current. A long, straight wire in the same plane runs parallel to and just to the left of the loop’s left side; this wire carries current upward (toward the top of the page). Neglecting any forces except those between these currents, state whether the loop experiences a net force toward the wire, away from the wire, or no net force. Give a brief reason based on the relative magnitudes and directions of the forces on its sides.
