Problem

In an electric torch, a charge of 0.5 C0.5\,\text{C} moves through the filament, and the chemical energy of the cell decreases by 0.6 J0.6\,\text{J}. (i) Calculate the potential difference across the filament for this situation. (ii) The cell used in the torch is rated 1.5 V1.5\,\text{V}. Compare the calculated potential difference with the cell rating and state whether the cell is delivering its ideal rating. (iii) How much work would the cell have to do to move a total charge of 10 C10\,\text{C} through the filament at its rated potential difference?
