Problem

Let h(x)=px2+qx+14x2−1,h(x)=\frac{px^{2}+qx+1}{4x^{2}-1}, where pp and qq are real constants. (a) Find lim⁡x→∞h(x)\displaystyle\lim_{x\to\infty}h(x) in terms of pp. Show your steps clearly. (b) Determine all real values of pp for which lim⁡x→∞h(x)=32\displaystyle\lim_{x\to\infty}h(x)=\tfrac{3}{2}. Justify your conclusion algebraically. (c) For each value of pp obtained in part (b), decide whether lim⁡x→−∞h(x)\displaystyle\lim_{x\to-\infty}h(x) equals 32\tfrac{3}{2} as well. Provide a thorough explanation.
