Problem

A fixed point A(3,−1)A(3, -1) is given. Let B(t,5)B(t, 5) be a variable point on the vertical line x=tx = t, where tt is a real number. (i) Obtain the slope of the line ABAB in terms of tt. (ii) The straight line LL is given by 2x−y+4=02x - y + 4 = 0. Determine the slope of LL. (iii) Find the value of tt for which the line ABAB is perpendicular to LL. (iv) For the value of tt obtained in part (iii), write the equation of the line ABAB in slope–intercept form.
