Problem

Rahul marks five points A(−3,4)A(-3,4), B(1,4)B(1,4), C(4,1)C(4,1), D(1,−2)D(1,-2) and E(−3,−2)E(-3,-2) in the given order and joins them to form a closed figure. (i) Plot the points and draw the figure ABCDEABCDE on a Cartesian plane. (ii) State how many sides of ABCDEABCDE are parallel to the xx-axis and how many are parallel to the yy-axis. (iii) Rahul now translates the entire figure 33 units to the right and 22 units downward. Write the new coordinates of all the vertices after this translation. (iv) After the translation, identify the quadrant in which each new vertex lies.
