Problem

Two stones, A and B, are dropped simultaneously from the balconies of a building. Balcony A is 45 m45\,\text{m} above the ground, while Balcony B is 20 m20\,\text{m} above the ground. Assume both stones are released from rest and air resistance is negligible. Take g=10 m/s2g = 10\,\text{m/s}^2. (i) Determine the time taken by each stone to reach the ground. (ii) Which stone strikes the ground first and by what time difference? (iii) Calculate the speed of each stone just before impact with the ground. (iv) Find the ratio of the distances covered by each stone during the first second of their motion.
