Problem
A laboratory starts two bacterial cultures, A and B, each containing exactly 500 cells at time t=0.
• Culture A doubles its cell count every 3 hours.
• Culture B triples its cell count every 5 hours.
(i) Write an exponential expression for the number of cells in each culture after 15 hours.
(ii) Without using logarithms, determine which culture has more cells at t=15 hours. Show all necessary working.
(iii) Calculate by what factor the larger population exceeds the smaller one.
