Problem

On a sheet of graph paper draw two perpendicular axes. Use the scale 1 cm=11\,\text{cm}=1 unit on the xx-axis and 1 cm=0.51\,\text{cm}=0.5 unit on the yy-axis. (a) Plot the graph of 3x+2y=63x+2y=6. (b) On the same axes plot the graph of 2x+5y=72x+5y=7. (c) Mark the point where the two lines intersect and write its coordinates correct to one decimal place. (d) Substitute the ordered pair obtained in part (c) in each equation to justify that it is the common solution.
