Problem

For a series RLCRLC circuit the phase angle between the supply voltage and current is +ϕ+\phi at angular frequency ω1\omega_1 and −ϕ-\phi at angular frequency ω2\omega_2. (i) Prove that ω1 ω2=ω0 2\omega_1\,\omega_2 = \omega_0^{\,2}, where ω0\omega_0 is the resonant angular frequency of the circuit. (ii) A circuit has R=20 ΩR = 20\,\Omega, L=50 mHL = 50\,\text{mH} and C=0.50 μFC = 0.50\,\mu\text{F}. Calculate ω1\omega_1 and ω2\omega_2 when ϕ=60∘\phi = 60^{\circ} (take tan⁡60∘=3\tan60^{\circ}=\sqrt{3}).
