Problem

A 15 g15\,\text{g} bullet moving horizontally with a speed of 300 m s−1300\,\text{m s}^{-1} enters a fixed wooden plank of thickness 4.0 cm4.0\,\text{cm} and emerges from the opposite face with a speed of 50 m s−150\,\text{m s}^{-1}. After emerging, the bullet rises vertically and finally comes to rest at the top of its trajectory. Answer the following: (a) Calculate the average resisting force exerted by the wood on the bullet while it is inside the plank.
