Problem
A potter’s wheel starts from rest and spins up uniformly while the potter shapes clay located at the edge of the circular wheel. The distance from the center of the wheel to the clay is 0.25m. The angular acceleration of the wheel is constant at 5.0rads−2 for the first 2.0s of motion.
(a) Calculate the angular speed of the wheel at t=2.0s. Include appropriate units.
(b) Determine the linear speed of the clay at the rim at the same instant.
(c) Compute the linear distance the clay travels along its circular path during the 2.0s spin-up interval.
