Problem

When 1-pentyne ( AA ) is treated with 4N4N alcoholic KOH at 175∘C175^\circ\text{C} , it is converted slowly into an equilibrium mixture of 1.3% 1-pentyne ( AA ), 95.2% 2-pentyne ( BB ) and 3.5% of 1,2-pentadiene ( CC ). The equilibrium was maintained at 175∘C175^\circ\text{C} . Calculate ΔG∘\Delta G^\circ for the following equilibria : B=A;ΔG1∘=?B = A \quad ; \quad \Delta G_1^\circ = ? B=C;ΔG2∘=?B = C \quad ; \quad \Delta G_2^\circ = ? From the calculated value of ΔG1∘\Delta G_1^\circ and ΔG2∘\Delta G_2^\circ indicate the order of stability of ( AA ), ( BB ) and ( CC ). Write a reasonable reaction mechanism showing all intermediates leading to ( AA ), ( BB ) and ( CC ).
