Problem
A 3.0kg box is pushed from rest along a straight, horizontal hallway by a constant horizontal force of 8.0N for a distance of 5.0m. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the box and the floor is μk=0.22. Air resistance is negligible.
(a) Calculate the magnitude of the work done on the box by the applied pushing force.
(b) Calculate the magnitude of the work done on the box by the kinetic friction force over the same displacement.
(c) Determine the speed of the box after it has traveled the 5.0m.
