Problem

A vector p=(t,2,5)\mathbf{p}=(t,2,5) depends on the real parameter tt. Another vector is fixed as q=(3,−1,4)\mathbf{q}=(3,-1,4). (i) Show that the dot product p ⁣⋅ ⁣q\mathbf{p}\!\cdot\!\mathbf{q} can be expressed as 3t−2+203t-2+20. (ii) Determine the value(s) of tt for which the angle between p\mathbf{p} and q\mathbf{q} is 120∘120^{\circ}. (iii) For each value of tt obtained, verify that the corresponding angle is indeed obtuse without directly using a trigonometric table.
