Problem

Two linear polynomials are given by p(x)=32x−4p(x) = \dfrac{3}{2}x - 4 and q(x)=−13x+2q(x) = -\dfrac{1}{3}x + 2. (i) Find the zero (root) of each polynomial. (ii) Plot both lines on the same set of axes by using their intercepts and at least one additional point for each line. (iii) Determine algebraically the coordinates of the point where the two lines intersect. Verify this point on your graph. (iv) Compare the slopes of the two lines and state which line is steeper. Justify your answer using numerical values.
