Problem

Given two real-valued functions ff and gg defined by f(x)=1x−3,g(x)=5−x.f(x)=\dfrac{1}{x-3},\qquad g(x)=\sqrt{5-x}. Answer the following. (i) State the largest subset of R\mathbb{R} on which both ff and gg are simultaneously defined. Give a reason for every value that is excluded. (ii) For the quotient function h(x)=f(x)g(x)h(x)=\dfrac{f(x)}{g(x)}, decide whether any further restriction on xx is necessary apart from what you obtained in part (i). Justify your answer and write the complete domain of hh in set–builder form.
