Problem

The displacement of a damped oscillator as a function of time is given by x=Ae−(bm)tcos⁡(ωt)x = A e^{-\left(\dfrac{b}{m}\right) t} \cos(\omega t), where AA is the initial amplitude, bb is a damping constant, mm is the mass of the oscillator and ω\omega is the angular frequency. (i) Determine dimensions of bm\dfrac{b}{m}. (ii) Show e−(bm)te^{-\left(\dfrac{b}{m}\right) t} is dimensionless. (iii) Verify dimensional consistency of the equation.
