Problem

A scooter rider notes the reading of a speedometer while travelling along a straight road. For the first 6 seconds the speed increases steadily from 10 km h−1^{-1} to 25 km h−1^{-1}. During the next 4 seconds the speed rises from 25 km h−1^{-1} to 37 km h−1^{-1}, but the increase in each second is not the same. (i) Explain, with reasons, whether the motion in the first 6 s is under uniform or non-uniform acceleration. (ii) Explain, with reasons, whether the motion in the next 4 s is under uniform or non-uniform acceleration. (iii) Would it be correct to treat the entire 10 s interval as motion with a single constant acceleration while applying the equations of motion? Give a reason for your answer.
