Problem

A 4.7 μF4.7\,\mu\text{F} air-filled capacitor is connected to a 12 V12\,\text{V} source and allowed to charge fully. (i) Calculate the charge stored on the capacitor. (ii) The source voltage is now increased steadily to 18 V18\,\text{V} while the capacitor remains connected. Determine the additional charge that flows onto the plates during this increase. (iii) If instead the source voltage had been reduced from 12 V12\,\text{V} to 6 V6\,\text{V}, by what percentage would the charge originally stored have decreased?
