Problem

In a magnetic resonance experiment, a small coil of inductance 12.0 μH12.0\,\mu\text{H} is connected in series with a capacitor to form a resonant circuit that is driven by an RF generator of adjustable frequency. (i) Determine the capacitance required to obtain resonance at 4.00 MHz4.00\,\text{MHz}. Express your answer in nanofarad, correct to two significant figures. (ii) Suppose the RF generator is later replaced by one that operates strictly at 5.00 MHz5.00\,\text{MHz}. Calculate the new capacitance that should be connected (keeping the same inductor) so that the circuit remains in resonance. (iii) By what percentage must the capacitance change when switching the circuit from resonance at 4.00 MHz4.00\,\text{MHz} to resonance at 5.00 MHz5.00\,\text{MHz}?
